Fash' ion,
v. To give fashion or shape to, to make, model, construct, fabricate. The Fashioning theme explores how the female body is formed, deformed, and reformed by fashionable dress. Here we look at how a girl's or woman's identity is fashioned by what she is seen wearing (or is it?). We look at images that explore the tradition of the made-up or falsely-fashioned face; and we explore the notion of fashioning as creating, of women as created (generally by a male " other"). |
