This question is for Chad in particular, since we are now teaching at the same school, but anyone else can answer. As a metalworking teacher, who looks at adornment with my students, I am interested in finding ways that would seem natural, to coordinate with a social studies so that we could study adornment within the context of history. I think this connection could be an effective way to look at some women's issues.

Harriet, you have a great potential partner in Chad. Maybe your students could do a project about adornment in a specific time period to find out who was allowed to wear what. I, for one, know nothing about restrictions on adornment. I do know that in Roman times only certain people were allowed to wear purple.
I think if you talk to him, you could easily come up with something.
